Flying is What Unites Us
On behalf of our members, thank you for considering membership in our flying club!
BrawndAir’s members make up a wide variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds and flying histories. Our members include active duty and retired military, veterans, businesspeople, students, airline pilots, mechanics, engineers and many others. The camaraderie and value of club membership is second only to the joy of flight. This passion unites us all.
Why a Flying Club: There are many reasons a membership with the BrawndAir Flying Club makes sense. Whether you’re just starting out as a student pilot, or you have many hours and stories to tell, we’ve found these benefits apply to all:
Well Maintained, Well Equipped, Clean, Hangared, Safe Aircraft: The Club Manager concentrates on maintaining our pilots’ proficiency and safety through open scheduling with very few barriers. We maintain our aircraft beyond Part 91 standards and approach commercial requirements in most respects. We’re not required to do this, but we’ve found it to be beneficial in the long run both for quality of training and enjoyment and the longevity of the aircraft.
Ease of Scheduling and Consistency of Aircraft: The club’s aircraft are scheduled online via a protected spreadsheet; it’s easy to access and use, even from your smart phone.
Shared, All Inclusive Costs: Your minimum monthly exposure is for club dues ($200). Worst case scenario, if you don’t fly for a month, you owe just the dues. If you owned an aircraft, you would still be paying the $600-$2500 and up every month to own a piston engine single. Not to mention the fiscal impact on personal or business finances of tying up cash and equity in a big ticket asset that (like most fun things) continues to need care, feeding and attention.

Rates, Dues, and Initiation Fees
There are two normal costs associated with club membership: Monthly Dues and Hourly Rates for aircraft use.
Hourly Rates:
Piper Cherokee Six: $160/tach hour wet
Piper Seneca II: $260/tach hour wet

These are costs incurred directly from operating the aircraft, based on Tach Time.
Please note, these rates INCLUDE the following:
-
Fuel Costs – Home field AND while traveling
-
Aircraft Rental – Based on hourly rates the plane is flown
-
Regular FAA Recommended Maintenance Inspections based on hours the aircraft are flown
-
Engine Overhaul and Airframe Maintenance Reserves
-
No Minimum Trip Charges and very reasonable multi-day trip expenses
Monthly Dues: $200 per month, due the 5th of every month
These pay for fixed Aircraft & Administrative Costs (taxes, fees, etc.), that must be paid regardless of how much the aircraft are flown.
Other items included such as:
-
Annual Maintenance Inspections on the Aircraft
-
Hangar Rentals for each Club Aircraft
